How to Download and Print a PDF at Home (Beginner's Guide)

What Is a Printable PDF?

A printable PDF is a digital file you buy and download instantly – no waiting for the post, no packaging, no waste. Once you've downloaded it, you can print it as many times as you like, at home or at a local print shop.

At Reggie & co, all our products are instant-download PDFs – from colouring pages and kids' activity sheets to wedding planners and business checklists. Buy once, print forever.

What You'll Need

  • A device (phone, tablet, laptop, or desktop)
  • A PDF reader (Adobe Acrobat Reader – free to download)
  • A printer connected to your device
  • Plain A4 paper (or cardstock for best results)

Step 1: Complete Your Purchase

After checkout, you'll receive an email from Reggie & co with a download link. Click the link in the email, or log into your account and find your order under My Downloads.

Step 2: Download the PDF

Click the download button and save the file somewhere easy to find – your Downloads folder or Desktop works well. On a phone, it'll usually save to your Files app.

Tip: Don't try to print directly from your browser or email – always open the file in a proper PDF reader first for the best quality.

Step 3: Open in Adobe Acrobat Reader

If you don't have Adobe Acrobat Reader, download it free from adobe.com. Open your saved PDF file with it.

Step 4: Set Your Print Settings

Click File > Print and check these settings before hitting print:

  • Paper size: A4 (standard UK size)
  • Orientation: Portrait or landscape – match what's on screen
  • Scale: Select "Actual size" or "Fit to page" – avoid "shrink to fit" as it can cut off edges
  • Colour: Colour or black & white depending on your printer and the file

Step 5: Print!

Hit print and you're done. 🎉 If the quality looks low, check your printer is set to "Best" or "High quality" mode rather than draft.

Printing Tips for Best Results

  • Use 90gsm paper or above for planners and colouring pages – standard 80gsm can feel flimsy
  • Cardstock (160–200gsm) is ideal for invitations and posters
  • Colouring pages print beautifully on plain white paper – no need for anything fancy
  • If colours look dull, check your ink levels and switch to high-quality print mode

Can I Print at a Local Print Shop?

Absolutely! Just save the PDF to a USB stick or email it to yourself, then take it to a print shop like Ryman, Staples, or your local library. They can print on larger paper sizes or heavier card too.

We Also Personalise!

Did you know we also offer a personalisation service? After checkout, simply message us your details – such as your name, dates, or company name – and we'll personalise your PDF and send it back to you ready to download.

Please note: personalisation can take up to 12 hours depending on your time zone (we are based in BST). However, we always aim to deliver your personalised PDF within 30 minutes where possible. 😊
